PowerShell stop-computer error privilege not held RRS feed

  • Question

  • Since last week, I noticed I am unable to shutdown the Windows 10 computer using stop-computer cmdlet in PowerShell. I am running PowerShell as Administrator so it's certainly not an elevation issue. I have been using this method successfully until recently. I am not sure if it is creator's update or it is an update that came just before it. I have this issue on all four of my Windows 10 machines, and all of them run latest updates.

There are others reporting the same issue as well:

Any statement from Microsoft on this please?

  • On W10 (1703) you have to uninstall update KB4015583 and than the cmdlet works again!

On 2012R2 the wrongdoer is the SU KB4014556, which seems to come within the .NET-RollUps KB 4014483 and KB 4014487!

This might be helpfull to fix the Problem!
