WINDOWS 7 SEARCH Mapped Drives RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ok here is the problem.  I have one machine and one user having this issue.  It does not do this on the Admin profile or on other profiles, just the one user.  I have tried hotfixes, re-indexing, Changing the indexing, removing the mapped drive, and none of it has worked.

It was working fine and then the next day it didn't work any longer

You go to the mapped drive, put in your search and instead of it coming up with what you searched for it comes up with all the files.  When searching for the same thing on a different profile it works just fine.

If possible I would like to fix this with out having to rebuild the profile.

  • Did you add the drive in indexing options from control panel ?

  • Yes I had tried that but it did not find any issues.

Also when try to add it, it is not in the options to select a mapped drive so the work around was creating a shortcut that would index it a and put it on the local workstation. From what I have read, adding a mapped drive to the index would make the whole contents of the drive local, something that is not wanted or needed as it worked before and does work on other profiles.

I can't figure out what is different on this profile vs the others.  This happened before and I had to rebuild the profile. It worked for a few months then it started again.
