Project Server 2010; Mass publication RRS feed

  • Question

  • How do I perform a “mass publication” of multiple projects in our Project Server 2010  database without opening and publishing each project individually in Microsoft Project Professional?

  • You could do it two ways

    1) Select all projects that you want to publish from Project Center, and click to Open from project professional. This will create a temporary master project and open all these projects as sub projects. Expaand all projects and hit Publish. Click Yes to saving the sub projects, but NO to saving the Mater Project itself.

However, this is time consuming process.

A better alternative if you have the know-how is to use PowerShell.. Take a look at this very useful script from Paul.

  • Hello, Prasanna already posted the link to publish specified projects, alternatively you can just publish all projects using my other script: http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Server-2010-Publish-all-45ba385b. Paul

  • Thanks a Lot  everyone the Paul´s tool is excellent.

But there is a risk to make a massive publication?

  • I have used Paul's script and it works perfectly.

The only caveat I would bring up is that, because publishing a large number of projects could put considerable load on the system, it is better to do it off-hours or weekends, when there are not that many users on the system.
