Directaccess works but DCA 2 Doesnt RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have direct access up and working perfectly with no issues but the DCA 2.0 client says its configured incorrectly. From the clients I cant hit directaccess-webprobehost but clients without the directaccess group policy applied I can resolve it.

  • Looks like DNS issue issue on direct access server.

Does your direct access server resolver that probe ?

  • Did you walk through the "Getting Started Wizard" for DirectAccess? Or did you do the real configuration wizards? Whatever your answer, I recommend only using the real wizards, skip the Getting Started thing and do it right. And during this process, you can define your own probe that the DCA/NCA will look for, so you can specify a real server or website for that query.

  • Hello aageorge

First, be aware that DCA 2.0 only is supported when the DirectAccess Server is running 2012, and is only needed for Windows 7, not Windows 8. AFAIK DCA 2.0 looks for different settings than DCA 1.0 does, so you need to have a Group Policy Object configuring DCA 2.0.

    Configuring DCA 2.0:

    1. Did you replace the W2K8 R2 Direct Access Connectivity Assistant ADMX/ADML file in your Group Policy store with the version 2.0 one? They are here:
    2. Read the DirectAccess_Connectivity_Assistant_2_0_Administrator_Guide.docx  (same location as above) for what you need to configure in the GPO.

    Hope this helps
