Sharing a page to an external user: User not in Directory

    Question

  • Hi there

When I try to share on of our sharepoint pages to an external user and the user then tries to access the site it comes up with an error page telling the user that she could not join due to not being in directory. I have shared the sharepoint page with many users before and the same site is working for a lot of different users, but this one in particular does not work. The user is a confirmed Office365 user and has an E3 subscription and should have access to Sharepoint Online. I have tried deleting the user and re-sharing the site but to no success. I've spent hours searching google and different forums for answers, but no one seems to have the problem where it's only 1 out of many users that can access this specific site.

    Any suggestions?

    Best regards

    Chris

  • Hi Chris

I hope you found the solution already but in case I just got the same error today. I found a workaround where the user chose the account type Personal instead of Work when prompted in the login scenario. This way the user got to type his password on the next step and then the user got access. When he chose Work the account used the single sign-on and lead him to the error site as you describe.

I am really hoping for an explanation to why this happens?

    Regards

    Martin
