KB4013214. Where is it? RRS feed

  • Question

  • 1703 has been out for a couple weeks but the pre-requisite update, KB4013214, still isn't showing up in WSUS.  I've noticed it on 2 separate update servers on 2 different domains.  I can't be the only one with this issue, so what's the deal?  When can we expect KB4013214 to release?

Edit: Microsoft Update Catalog also returns no results for KB4013214.

  • I should have added it in my original post, and will after this, but the Update Catalog does not return results for KB4013214.

"We did not find any results for 'KB4013214'"

  • This is only for machines that aren't managed thru WSUS or SCCM.  It's no applicable to you, which is why it's not showing in WSUS.

  • You can download directly.

    Windows 10 Build 14393.1066 64-bit (x64)
    Windows 10 Build 14393.1066 32-bit (x86)

    P.S.
With older Windows such as Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, or older IE may not be able to access Microsoft Update Catalog.
It would be better to use Windows 10, 8.1, 7 for accessing to MS Update Catalog.

  • Hi Curt1000,

You may check if the following KB could be of help:

"This update can be downloaded and installed from Windows Update."

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4013214

Since it's not available in Microsoft Update Catalog, we can't deploy it via WSUS server.

    Best Regards,

    Anne

That article tells us WHY Creator Update won't deploy through WSUS but doesn't tell us HOW we deploy the Creators Update through WSUS or when it will be added to the catalog.  It makes no sense.

Then how do we deploy Creators Update through WSUS when we can't get the pre-req deployed through WSUS?  Creators Update downloaded to my WSUS but it can't do anything.

  • The whole reason to have WSUS is to do this automatically, not manually.  No one wants to upgrade 100's of machines.  Thats why WSUS exists.

  • Have to agree with vseven.  Is there an estimated date we can expect the update to be released to WSUS servers?  The 1703 upgrade is already available on WSUS but KB4013214 is not.  It doesn't make sense to release the upgrade but not the pre-requisite update.

Thanks, Ashidacchi but those links are for the KB4015217 update, which is already available on WSUS.  We need KB4013214.

  • Are there any updates on this? For people who were able to do it successfully, what did you do?

    Thanks

  • Hi

Did you find a solution for this issue?, I have the same infuriating problem , I can install Creators Update via a MDT task sequence but can not get to work via WSUS, (Creators Update will  download via WSUS but will not install) and found the pre-requisite isn't available via WSUS

    Thanks

  • Not a good one but it's one the works.  Reset WU on the client machines.  We created a batch file, copy it to the users desktop, and run it as a admin.  Here are the contents:

    net stop wuauserv
    net stop bits
    RD c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution /s /q
    net start bits
    net start wuauserv
    wuauclt /detectnow
    wuauclt /reportnow

After doing this the computer will pull the latest cumulative update for 1607 and then after a reboot or two it will do the creators update.  Complete PITA but it seems to work.
