Virtual machines cant ping or join the domain? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a couple of Server 2008 VMs running in VM Player. I also have a 2008 R2 base machine that has active directory and DNS installed and is my first DC in the domian/forest. I have allowed all ICMP requests on all three of them.

Server 1 and Server 2 can not ping anything except the loopback. They can not ping each other or the Server 2008 R2. They can not ping the default gateway or even the base machine they are on.

I can not ping them from the base or the R2 machine either.

Both of the virtual machines can access the internet though, Even though they can not ping google by name or by ip address.

Therefore I also cannot join the domain as the VMs tell me there is no Domain Controller available.

I have the ip addresses all on the same subnet using the same DHCP and DNS servers

I have the network adapters set to "Bridged"

    Any thoughts would be helpful.
