How to retrieve custom Views and Fields in 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

In a Project Pro 2007 file I created sophisticated views for custom Gantt chart and custom fields.

But when I'm trying to open this 2007 file in Project Server 2010, I get the message: "The custom Gantt view doesn't exist, choose another view". And then my custom view is deleted.

How to keep my custom view in 2010?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I imported another .mpp file which contains exactly the same views, and there everything worked fine: My custom views have been imported without any issue... Mystery!

    1. Are the 2007 custom fields Local or Enterprise?
    2. What exactly are your steps when you are "trying to open this 2007 file in Project server 2010"?

  • Hi,

The 2007 custom fields are Local.

To open this 2007 file : File - Open - My Documents - then select the .mpp file

After a few seconds I get the message: "the view Gantt chart xxx doesn't exist in this version of Project. Please choose a different view".

    Thanks

  • Before saving the 2007 mpp, did you use the Organizer to copy the view and its table from the 2007 Global.mpt into the mpp?

  • Yes, the view and its table were in the .mpp file.
