Skype for Business - Skype search Directory RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

we use Office pro plus from office 365. However, we have our on-premise Lync servers since we use enterprise voice.

As of yesterday, I have got the Skype for Business and it looks great. All demos show that with Skype for Business we will be able to search Skype contacts right from the search box. In my case I can not search regular skype users from Skype for Business client. Does anyone know what could be the reason?

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

here you will find a link to TechNet-Article "Deploy Skype Connectivity in Skype for Business Server 2015" https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn705313.aspx

After Migration from Lync2013 Server which already was enabled for CsPublicProvider you only have to update the CsPublicProvider with two powershell lines:

    Remove-CsPublicProvider -Identity Skype

    New-CsPublicProvider -Identity Skype -ProxyFqdn federation.messenger.msn.com -IconUrl https://images.edge.messenger.live.com/Messenger_16x16.png -NameDecorationRoutingDomain msn.com -NameDecorationExcludedDomainList "msn.com,outlook.com,live.com,hotmail.com" -VerificationLevel UseSourceVerification -Enabled $true -EnableSkypeIdRouting $true -EnableSkypeDirectorySearch $true

Restart your Skype for Business Client and you will see the  Skype Directory Search in your client

    Regards,

    Klaus

  • You won't get this feature until Skype for Business Server is released and you upgrade.  Sorry.

  • Skype directory contact lookup will require a Skype For Business Edge server.

  • The server is due out on May 1st, but I'm not sure there's an article yet... I can't find one.  It would be in here somewhere I'd think when it exists: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398616.aspx

  • For Skype directory search, you will need a Skype for Business server 2015 and a Skype for Business Edge server 2015 to search for Skype user. To ad a Skype user manual, you can use skype-id“@skypeids.net also on a Lync client.
