unexpected nslookup results RRS feed

  • Question

  • NSLOOKUP returns 4 IP addresses for our local domain; 1 of which isn't a name server???   The other 3 are correct.  Could this be why our users are unable to browse computers under 'Network' in explorer?  Users all have 'Network Discovery' turned on and domain set as network.  What should I do about the 1 address '192.168.0.106' that appears as a nslookup result for our domain?

  • Hi Robert,

Check whether that address has the DNS Role installed.

Also, bring up DNS Management console (dnsmgmt.msc), right click on the Forward Lookup Zone and look in the Name Servers tab to see if 192.168.0.106 is in there.

  • Hi,

    • Which nslookup command do you use?
    • I don't think this is the cause of the "network discovery" issue because there are three other name servers available.

    Best regards,
