New Branch Distribution Point - Decomission old Branch Distribution Point RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

I need to setup a new branch distribution point (this will be replacing a historical server which was acting as a branch distribution point

Can you please let me know the steps to perform this correctly. My thinking was setup DP via wizard then use the "copy packages wizard" to copy all of the required packages to the new server

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Regards,

  • That's one way of doing it, you could also use the DP utility http://www.myitforum.com/articles/42/view.asp?id=8904 This will assist you in copying the new packages and also delete the old ones.

  • Thanks for this. I have commissioned the Branch DP. Do I even need to copy the packages or does it automatically create the share (SCCMSW$) and push packages without my intervention?

If I need to use the copy packages wizard I would need to know which packages are on the machine we are decomissioning then manually go through and copy these using the wizard?

    Thanks
