  • Firstly - you should probably start your own thread about the issues you are facing, it makes discussions very confusing when someone changes the topic away from the Title and starts asking different questions.

That being said, I might take a guess at what your issue is now. Is it the same as what is described in this thread?

  • Unfortunately, Error 80004005 is a very general "something went wrong" error.

You should examine the deployment logs for more details.

Could you post the contents of BDD.log?

    Martin

  • If DISM is failing to install the OS, then it could be your drivers. Make sure you've imported the correct controller drivers and then update your deployment share to rebuild your boot images.

  • you mean the drivers for the NIC card?
    Monday, August 19, 2013 2:53 PM
  • Thanks guys, It was the Network drivers. I removed all the drivers from the deploymnet share and only uploaded one set of NIC drivers for the particular Dell PC. Once I uploaded those drivers I updated the deployment share and boom it worked. Awesome.

  • Sorry, I just back to my desk. I'm glad you got it working. Make it a good habit to create folders for each manufacture and model. You'll thank me when you try removing a driver and everything from that folder is removed. And don't forget to update the share any time you add new drivers that are needed by WinPE.

  • I am also getting same error when I'm trying to execute task sequence, I have not imported any drivers. For testing just I am installing OS and few application.

    Error

Please guide me resolve this issue.

  • Adding to above description I am trying to install Win8.1 OS EE(X64 bit) and using MDT 2012.

    Regards,

    Suresh.M.M.

    Monday, December 16, 2013 3:00 AM
  • first of all, only MDT 2013 is supported for the deployment of Windows 8.1. Please remove any previous instance of the ADK or WAIK, and re-install the *LATEST* version of the Windows 8.1 ADK. then install MDT 2013.

Additionally, if you are still having problems check the bdd.log file on the local machine. If you are still having problems, copy the bdd.log file to a public share like SkyDrive and copy the link here.

  • Thanks that resolve the issue :-)

Additionally I have one more query here,

I am using MDT 2013 for Win8.1 x64 deployment every thing work fine except out of box. I have downloaded dell latitude x64 drivers and injected same to MDT(out of box).Even I had created selection profile and created task sequence. In Task sequence I have specified the selection profile and in option tab I have specified dell latitude system model. When I am deploying image on machine its says copying and installing but nothing is installing. Can you please guide me where I was wrong.

    Thanks in advance,

    Regards,

    Suresh.M.M.

  • Hi,

I mean non of the drivers are installing. As a work around I am installing drivers as an application. But it will consume space and time for installation.

  • Did you inprort the drivers (based on the .inf file) into Out-of-box-drivers?

  • Hi,

Yes I had imported drivers into out of box drivers.Procedure I have followed.

    Downloaded driver from dell site.

Imported drivers into Out of box drivers.

    Created selection profile.

Created a task sequence(Inject drivers) and selected above created profile.

Under option tab I have created query.(Like if statement based on task sequence variable Model)

  • The first thing I'd suggest is getting rid of your if statement and seeing if it then injects the drivers. Secondly I'd suggest looking at these methods of managing your drivers. If you deal with lots of models, the one I use and would recommend is what Johan calls "Total control". http://www.deploymentresearch.com/Research/tabid/62/EntryId/112/MDT-2013-Lite-Touch-Driver-Management.aspx

  • And one more issue I am having here is that I am installation application silently but during task sequence execution I asked to enter install now,(Found this is because of application is not signed)

How I can suppress this warning message here.

Attached is the screenshot of the same.

  • I know this is solved so I'll just add my solution for future visitors.

I had the exact same error message.

The problem here was a package that was being included in the WinPE image that screwed things up. If you have packages included in your PE image but try building the PE image without them to see if you get any further.
