How to change an enterprise resource into a local resource in the plan? RRS feed

  • Question

  • How to change an existing enterprise resource into a local resource in the plan( without deactivating the resources in the project server)? Also without affecting the existing actual work assigned for the resource.

    Thanks in advance

  • You can not do that only you can create local resource for that resource with some other name like you can swap first name and last name for display name then assign task to them.

  • Indeed Khaldun you could type the resource name, adding a "_" at the beginning. You check in the resource sheet view that you'll have the "local resource" icon in front of the resource.

Be aware that doing this, you'll not be able anumore to consolidate resource assignments among projects on the server.

If doing this you want to mention that the booking is not yet committed, note that the booking type field allows you differenciating proposed and committed booking.

    See more details here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project-help/booking-type-fields-HP001043690.aspx

    Hope this helps.
