    Hi Everybody,

     

    I have 3 questions regarding to External list in BCS.

    1. I wanted to customize NewForm & EditForm of external list, so that i can put some drop-down controls (Hard coded values only) in those forms.

    2. Need validation of some fields like EmployeeName should not blank or Email should be in proper format on submit.

    3. Can we do bulk addition/updation/Deletion of rows in external list which are connected to backend database.

    If possible please provide some reference for above questions.

    Answers:

    For Part 1: You can use SharePoint designer to customize the forms

    2. Yes you can add some validators to either the columns or use javascript to validate on the form. Again you can use SPD or Visual Studio.

    3. You would have to write a custom form to do the same. You might be better adding the batch records directly to the data source rather than using BCS.
