GPP file update is not working.

  • I use UPDATE under user configuration>preferences>windows settings>files trying to copy just one ini from a network share to a location in the users' roaming profile:

    Source: \\server1\share\app\update.ini
    Destination: \\server1\userprofiles\%username%\appdata\roaming\app\update.ini

The user account being used to login to server1 has r permission to source and r/w to destination.

I do not see the file being copied to the destination.

The policy is linked to the OU that contains server1.  I login to server1 using an account part of the group being specified in security filtering.  RSOP shows the user group policy is on server1.

Please advise wherelse I should check.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your post.

If you want the policy apply to users, you need link the group policy to users OU.

And go to Common Tab in GPP and check: Run in logged in user credentials.
To change thesecurity context to your user, who is allowed to access
    the share.

    Best Regards,
