  • Question

  • Hi,

    looking for some help here!

A freind has the following problem.

"Trying to install Desktop Gadgets, the following message appears, This file is not associated with any program, please install a Program or create association to a program"

The following steps has been taken.

    http://www.thewindowsclub.com/repair-fix-windows-7-vista-problems-with-fixwin-utility

Downloaded and tried this solution. Not working!

Made sure that the UAC is enabled.

In Windows services, unchecked the Sidebar.

    Rebooted.

    File search path, checked, OK.
    C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar
    Files in folder, OK.
    sbdrop.dll
    settings.ini
    sidebar.exe
    wlsrvc.dll

    Used trick from Vista!

    cmd, right click for admin.
Typed the following commands, one by one!

    Regsvr32 atl.dll (Tryck Enter)
    Regsvr32 %ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar\sbdrop.dll (Enter)
    Regsvr32 %ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar\wlsrvc.dll (Enter)
    exit (Enter)

The first command executes, the others return Cant read the Module C:\Program

    Rebooted computer, still same error.

    Windows 7, x86 Home Premium.

    What to do?

    Happy Easter and Regards

You have to include the path between quotation marks. Something like this:

    Regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar\sbdrop.dll" (Enter)
    Regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar\wlsrvc.dll" (Enter)

Let us know if this works for you.
