Active Directory Domain Controller Crash

    Question

  • Hi,

Need some help regarding active directory domain controller, we have a primary domain controller, a RODC, exchange, CRM and SQL servers, but after unexpected shutdown our primary domain controller crash and did not boot properly, unfortunately we have no backup available for active directory recovery the only thing we have RODC working.

Now is it possible to convert RODC to a standard domain controller without any available domain controller, because we only have RODC available.

So please anyone can help me out from this situation.

  • Hi

is it possible to convert RODC to a standard domain controller without any available domain controller >>>No, you have to demote and then re-promote to change from a RODC to a writeable DC and vice versa.

So you must restore your DC from a succesfull backup.
