Ping monitroing for external unmonitored computers/IP addresses in System Center Essential 2007 RRS feed

    Thanks for the response in advance, My company wants me to setup monitors for external unmonitored computers to ping them every 1 minute or so to see if they respond. They are not in the same work group or network. I just want to have SCE ping a list of IP addresses and e-mail servers periodically and alert if they don't respond. Is this possible in System Center 2007? I know it is in System Center 2010.

    You are correct that it is much easier in Essentials 2010 (which is now available) to create a ping monitor - there is a wizard in the Authoring workspace that will help you quickly create them.

    For Essentials 2007, have a look at the following blog postings for guidance:

    Hi,

    You can download the FREE Ping MP from http://opslogix.nl/#ping. I have used it in SCE 2007 SP1 and it works.
