Public access homepage in a private site (teamsite) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Here is a scenario. We have a MOSS 2007 teamsite (a sub site) for collaboration. Currently site access is limited to few users (a private site). Now, they wanted to make homepage for public view, to entire department, but keep rest of the site still private. Is this possible in a teamsite?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi raj,

You can copy and store the default homepage in a library, add the view permission for other users in department on this copied homepage and set as default welcome page.

1.Create a document library (e.g. PageA) used to store the custom homepage.

2.Then use SharePoint Designer to copy the default.aspx homepage and paste to library PageA.

3.Then locate to this library PageA and add the view permission for entire department users on this page item.

4.Then change welcome homepage to custompage stored in library PageA from Site Settings->Look and Feel -> Welcome Page, but you need to enable Publishing feature firstly on sub site.

    Thanks
