    Hi,

are there more functions / possibilities in SCE if I use ROM - or is there no change to the Limits of SCE?

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

There's no change in SCE site. The limits are still there. The function of ROM is only remotely configure, monitor, and troubleshoot the SCE encironments from SCOM site.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Nicolas:

While there are no visible 'upgrades' or function changes to Essentials once Service Provider mode is enabled, consider this: The SCE OpsMgr instance co-existence with the service provider's instance of OpsMgr (ROM) leverages the separation of those management groups.

That is, use SCE to monitor those things that make sense, like general population client workstations, then remove the server-based application management packs from SCE. The turns the SCE instance into a dedicated-purpose client management console, leaving the ROM instance for deep server and application management packs. This lets each OpsMgr instance 'specialize' in what it does best.

SCE tuned and managed this way is a lighter weight, simpler application with a lower resource footprint, and the console in SCE is less cluttered, and thus more usable since only those views and reports applicable to client management are seen.
