SQL Server Errors - 18210, 3041, 24583

  • Hi

I am running Windows 2003, SQL Management Studio 2008 Express.  ACCPAC is the application which requires SQL.  I use Acronis Disk Imaging software for backup therefore an image is taken of this machine and no native backup is being performed on the SQL databases.  In the past I had SQL 2005 on this machinge for the purpose of running previous backup software and SOPHOS, however those services have been disabled within the services environment.

I am very confused and need some guidance as I am not very aufait with SQL.

My event viewer is logging the following errors:- 3014, 18210 and 24583.  When I investigate with the SQL Management Studio window (SQL Logs) the same erros are being recorded.

BackupIoRequest::ReportIoError: write failure on backup device '{6CE7CC4C-A29A-47D0-9FE0-AA698B635819}129'. Operating system error 995(The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request.).  07/19/2013 00:03:25,Backup,Unknown,Error: 18210<c/> Severity: 16<c/> State: 1.

    Error: 3041<c/> Severity: 16<c/> State: 1.

    Error :24853

How can I resolve these issues

  • Hi ,

Found exactly what you required .Please go through this article by Jonathan. This error is not exactly related to sql server,it seems some problem with your backup third party tool.

So contacting your Vendor will also be a good idea

  • Hi nubianbabe,

The error may occurred by insufficient space on drive or performing a backup or restore operation with third-party backup software.

We should note the following facts for troubleshooting this issue.
    1. Sometimes SQL Server just show the OS error number and we don't even see the text for that error number. Usually we can run the command to get the error text for analysis.
    2. Ensure that the backup and restore medium has sufficient space.

There is a similar issue about message error, we can refer to the following link.
