Highlighting patches that require additional actions above and beyond installing the patch RRS feed

  • Question

  • We're a busy IT department in local govt.  We've just had an internal health check and have been caught out by a few patches where it's not been enough to install the patch - you also have to read the accompanying release notes.

Some of these indicate that a particular GPO needs to be created to enforce (or otherwise modify) the security options that the patch makes possible.  Now, we can do that, but it would be good to know before (or when) we install the patches that additional actions are required.

What I'd like to see is, for each list of monthly and oob patches, the required action list for each patch, so either:

    - Just install it - job's a good'un

    - Install it, and then modify behaviour if necessary, using GPO.

This would mean we wouldn't have to spend over an hour a month reviewing patch literature to find out what we need to do.

    Can anyone assist?
