Transport rule not working - forwarding same mail works as expected

    Question

  • Hello,

we created a transport rule with the following criteria "SubjectOrBodyContainsWords: {pattern}" and "RedirectMessageTo: {recipient@domain.tld}" no other conditions and nothing special.

No other transport rule before with "StopRuleProcessing: true".

The message which not match was send by an application via SMTP and the application created the message with the "pattern" in the subject. But if we forward the same message within outlook to anyone the rule matches as expected.

After enabling PipelineTracing I can also confirm, that the message which send by the application was processed by "X-MessageSnapshot-Source: OnResolvedMessage,Transport Rule Agent" in the message routing, but the rule not works as expected.

The Exchange Hosts are "Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 15". I checked the "fixed issues" section of the newer CU releases, but it looks like there is no known issue/fix.

Does anyone know this problem or has an idea or solution, thanks.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for contacing our forum.

It's recommended to disable this transport rule and enable it again then restart the transport service and check if it works or not.

Or we can recreate this transport rule and check if it works or not.

    Hope it helps.
