MDT Deployment Wizard doesn't start after booting from the LiteTouchPE.iso RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Experts,

I'm using the MDT 2013. When I boot the Physical machine or VM with the LiteTouchPEx86 or x64, I'm not getting the Deployment Wizard. It just stops with a command prompt X:\Windows\System32>. Anyone faced this problem earlier. I searched the Technet, but I couldn't find any solutions.

I've done all the possible things which I know. Please help.

    Regards,
    Sukumar. R.

  • You are getting some kind of crash, or your variables are not setup correctly.

From the command prompt (X:\Windows\System32 ) Run the following command and let us know what the error message is (exactly):

    cscript x:\deploy\scripts\litetouch.wsf /debug:true /debugcapture

It should crash or exit with error error. If it does not crash with a specific line number, then please copy the bdd.log file to a public site like OneDrive and copy the link here.

  • If you put variables to skip deploymentwizard pages, these might be the cause.

If you set a page to be skipped, you also need to set teh variables that wouls have been set by that page. otherwise the wizard will fail.

  • Hi,

When I run the cscript, it says that " 'cscript' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

  • I very much doubt that cscript is missing from WinPE, MDT can't run without it, so something else is wrong here, did you misspell it? Go into the x:\windows\system32 directory and search for cscript.exe, it should be there, along with wscript.exe.

  • No. I tried going into all the directories and searched. I couldn't find anywhere.

  • Have you tried updating your deployment share, and booting from a fresh boot image?

  • Yes. I've completely regenerated my boot images, It didn't work.

Removed contents from the Boot folder then completely re-generated image, It didn't work.

  • I've finally asked my counter-part from North-America to sync his share to my share.

  • Nope, something else is wrong here. Specifically, what versions of the ADK/WAIK do you have installed on your machine, what OS'es are you deploying? We might need the output from when you update your deployment share. At this point I would also recommend re-installing the ADK & MDT from scratch, perhaps on a different VM.

  • This is very late, I pulled out my hair on this, I performed a Diskpart. Wiped the partition. RESOLVED!
