Hi guys
I'm having a bad problem, this has occurred 4 times now. (over a couple of weeks)
Basically something causes the the BCD or bootloader to lose the windows 7 installation
the last time this happened (today), i did a defrag with perfectdisk 10 (build 124) and a nvidia driver install just before a restart.
on restarting i was presented with: (although different error code than previous, but basically the same result)
Boot manager generic failure:
0xc000000f
Fail to find os loader
i started the recovery startup from disk, which gave error
"Boot manager generic failure
Root cause found:
-----------------------
Boot manager failed to find OS Loader
Repair action: File Repair
Result: Failed. Error Code = 0x490
Time taken : 7099 ms
Repair Action: Boot configuration data store repair
Result: Failed. Error code = 0x490
Time Taken: 171ms
Repair action: System Restore
Result: Completed Successfully..."
i did the various bcdedit rebuild etc,, but that found 0 OS's
i did notcie the drive letter of the repair changing randomly as well. not sure why, no drives are changed
I have checked the harddrive for errors / bad sectors etc.. all ok
I gave up and did a reinstall, after i did a low level format.
Once installed a ran a prefectdisk defrag, as i hope it was the cause. but it didn't happen this time round though.
Would PD move the bcd out of the boot sector limit of the HDD? ???
