Linking a new SharePoint lists to tasks in a schedule RRS feed

  • I have a client who would like to create a new list in the SharePoint project workspace that has the ability to link to tasks in the schedule similarly to the way that issues and risks are able to be linked.

    Does anyone know how and if this can be done?

  • Hi,

    You don't mention which version of Project Server you are using. The short answer is no, you can't link list items to project schedule tasks. 

    Project Server 2013 / Project Online does have the ability to create simple SharePoint based task list projects inside workspaces. These task list projects can sync with MS Project and can be a very powerful solution. The task items also support the concept of a related field, which may allow you to store the relationship between list items.

    Another thought may be to use a task custom field in Project Server and store the id of the associated list item within it.
