  • Dear Experts,

I am using Windows 7 (64 bit) Home Premium. All Windows latest updates ahve been applied.

  • Hi,

I would verify if the issue occurs without running any programs. Since the issue was occurred after installing Windows Update, I suggest performing System Restore to check if it can resolve the issue. If so, please go to hide the updates.

If it doesn't work, please follow first floor's reply to update all possible drivers, chipset, BIOS, perform clean boot for testing.

    Best Regards,

    Niki

  • Go to HP's support web site and check for Windows 7 drivers for your specific model number. Also check for recent updates even if your PC came with Windows 7 preinstalled.

If there are Windows 7 drivers then download to a folder on your hard drive and install all of them, starting by installing the Motherboard/chipset drivers, then the SATA, LAN, Audio, drivers and any other device drivers.

Start by answering the following three questions:

    1. What is the hardware configuration of the computer?

    2. What applications do you run?

    3. Is this a new problem, or one that has always existed on this
    computer?

  • Hi SimonJohn181, you said..

Try first cleaning up tempfiles, logs etc. There's many tools for this

Then Defragment the HD to speed up performance.

Also do you have caching processes running like Superfetch (internal) and ReadyBoost (on a flashRAM etc.) as these would help with performance issues too.

4GB RAM likely isn't very much for a 64bit system. If it's cost effective for you also consider adding a bit more.

I can't be sure, but it sounds very likely that you are infected with
malware. What anti-virus program and anti-spyware program do you run?
