CentOS 7.3 Static IP Hyper-V External Switch Network Issue Windows Server 2016

    Question

  • Hello,

I have been struggling for days now to get Static IP to work with CentOS 7.3. I'm using External Switch with Virtual Mac. Same configuration works with Windows VPS. Any help would be highly appreciated.

  • Hi Lucas,

From the screenshot it does look as you have the network configured in the VM, but the network configuration is not showing up in Hyper-V Manager?

If so, then you might be missing the LIS daemons on your VM.

You can install them by running #yum install hyperv-daemons and after a reboot ensure that you have a process called hypervkvpd running.

Let me know if this helps.

The Linux Integration Services will give you access to some features - like being able to see the guest VM network configuration, or in the case of the VSS Daemon to be able to do a live VM backup - with no downtime or interruption for the running guest.

If you don't have internet connection on the VM, you can always download the hyperv-daemons package and the related hyperv-* packages from the CentOS ISO or from the centos.org website.
