  • I received this email from Outlook.com is it legit ?

    Dear User,
    Your email has been infected with Data Stealing Virus, unblock the message and
    click on VERIFY link below to update your account, automatically disable the virus
    and protect your Data from being stolen.

    No, that's definitely not legitimate. I'm certainly not aware of any such messages being sent out, but certainly if they did they wouldn't ask you to click on a link, they'd provide instructions for how to fix whatever the issue was. Also, thinking about it logically, if they did anti-virus detection (which I don't think they do) then they wouldn't deliver a message which was infected in the first place. An infected message would have no way to infect your mailbox at their end, so it could only be referring to your computer, and there's no way for them to know if your machine has been infected as a result of receiving a message.

  • You may get emails from Outlook support but not like that one.

    This is an example of a common scam. The poor quality of the English used is an indicator that it is not genuine.
