How to find out the logs in outlook 2013 when users handling outlook not in a proper manner. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Support,

I am using outlook 2013 as a POP account to download the emails. We hosted our email account in Google.

The issue is that when emails are downloading in outlook 2013,the users are clicking the emails at that time and the outlook starts spinning and shows the message as " Outlook not responding" .

My question is that i want to know how can we see the logs in outlook 2013 when users are not closing the outlook 2013 properly / clicking on the email at the time of downloading the outlook will start spinning.

How can we monitor the outlook logs when users are trying to do something in outlook.

Your immediate response & support is highly appreciated.

    Thanks in Advance

    Regards

  • Hi Pradeep,

As far as I know, Microsoft Outlook for Windows does contain an option that turns on logging for certain Outlook features but most log files are a binary file that can’t be read without contacting Microsoft Support to create a case.

Given this situation, personally I'd like to suggest have a look at the Windows Event Viewer first when the issue occurs and see if anything useful can be recorded out there.

By the way, does this issue affect all users in the same environment or only some particular ones? If the later, it is suggested to test in safe mode(Press Win+R, type "outlook /safe", press Enter.) and see if there is any improvement. This helps eliminates whether the problem is related to any third party add-ins.

Hope the above information can be helpful.
