VBA for Excel 2016 Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to write a few VB procedures in Excel 2016. For some reason I cannot access them through the Macro Viewer or run in the VB editor. I have searched in vein for a solution.  I recently installed Office 365 Business.  This was not a problem with other versions of Excel.

    Your help would be appreciated

  • Hi Kay,

I'd like to make it clear:
    (1) Are you writing VBA code, instead of VB?
    (2) Do you open the Excel file in your local Excel, instead in Web/cloud?
... I suspect you are trying to open it with cloud.
    (3) Can you see your VBA code with Excel 2013/2010 etc, using the same Excel file?
    (4) Which architecture of Excel 2016, 32-bit or 64-bit?

  • Hi Ashicacchi,

    I am writing VBA code.

    I open Excel locally

Yes I can see the VBA coding using both 2010 and 2013

Excel 2016 32 bit is my architecture.

Here is something interesting...after this writing and upon exploring the Personal.xlsb, I found the personal was installed in two places.  I am not sure if that was the actual problem, but after removing one of the personal files, I was able to use the function I created.  And I was able to record and find that macro as well in the viewer.  Have you heard of that happening after an upgrade of one version to the other?  In my case 2013 to 2016.

    Thanks for responding.
