[Vista basic] forgets hardware after shutdown PC RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a problem with my newly assembled asus V2-M2V890 barebone and Windows Vista. When i power down the PC and i restart it, Vista re-detects several hardware components such as the onboard audio and lan cards. I flashed the bios from 201 to 401.

I installed Windows XP on the same machine and the problems are gone.

Could there be a reason you can think of that vista is re-detecting hardware after a cold start?

    My system specs:
    AMD Athlon64 AM2 3200+ 2.0GHz 512KB Box
    Corsair 512MB DDR2 64MX64 PC667 C4 Value Select
NEC / SONY 1.44Mb Diskdrive .Zwart
    WD 80.0Gb WD800JD (SATA)
    ASUS 54Mbps PCI CARD WL-138G V2
    Keyboard KB-1120
    BenQ Muis M800 optical black
    Acer AL1916AS - Vlak scherm - TFT - 19" - 1280 x 1024 - 300 cd/m
MS Windows Vista 32-b Home Basic

    More information about the barebone:

  • Today i got an e-mail from asus support

It seems that other products have simular problems. It has something to do with the bios and they are working on it right now. Hopefully they can get the bios on our website within 2 weeks.

I am glad asus is aware of this problem now......

They said that they will fix the problem themselves and if that is not possible then they will install an iligal copy of windows xp on that machine so that the problems are over.
