Windows 7 System Tray empty if clock is not synchronized RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I've found a rare issue on my desktop wherein if the system clock is unsynchronized then the system tray icons become blank. The only way to bring them back is

    1) Synchronizing the clock with windows time servers.

    2) Killing explorer.exe and respawning explorer.exe

  • Hi,

Here is a KB article talking about some of the system icons won't display well:

System icons do not appear in the notification area in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 until you restart the computer

Please take a try with the methods mentioned, let us know the process.

    Best regards

  • Hi Michael,

I am quite aware of the fix, in fact a shorter one like I've mentioned above. But what I'd like to know is would there be a way to not do this every time and yet have the icons ?

P.S: In the link you've shared, you may wanna correct the spelling of the following Serach programs and files.

    (You're welcome!)
