share point portal by two different people are at different versions RRS feed

  • Question

  • On multiple occasions we have experienced an issue where a document retrieved from share point 2003(WSS) portal by two different people are at different versions. Proper check-in/check-out processes have been followed. We have been able to open a document in read-only at the same time, and both of us see different versions.

  • Hi Muhamad,

    Thanks for your reply.

Please try to delete the document in Content.MSO folder.

Because document open with read-only mode would download the document to that folder. When we close the document, the download file would also been deleted at the same time. So the problem is the download document hasn’t been deleted. So please try to delete the document from Content.MOS folder. Then open the document from SharePoint site again.

If there is other problem please contact http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;PHONENUMBERS. If you are outside the US please see http://support.microsoft.com for regional support phone numbers. Because according to Microsoft Support Lifecycle, SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Mainstream Support retired at 4/14/2009. It is recommended that you contact Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) via telephone which will be a charged call for an extended support.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Best regards. Emir

  • Hi Muhamad,

Maybe one user got the draft version of the document but the other user has no permission to read draft. So the user with less permission is reading the published version of the document.

Under this kind of situation, two users would get different versions of one document.

Please check it in library Versioning Settings.

    Thanks.

(After check in)Now second user tries to open the document from Sharepoint site, but he got old version. (It open from local copy of content.mso), it should open from sharepoint site with new version. How to solve this issue
