SQL 2008 Express support for DPM 2012 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I did search the forums and the KB, but was unable to find exact wording for support of Sql Express 2008 by DPM 2012.  The server is Standard 2008 R2.  Does anyone know if SQL Express 2008 is supported by DPM?

    Thanks!

Supported Versions of SQL Server 2008

For the DPM database, DPM 2010 requires a dedicated instance of the 64-bit or 32-bit version of any of the following SQL Server versions:

    • SQL Server 2008 with Service Pack 3
    • SQL Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 1

2008, Enterprise or Standard Edition, with Service Pack 1 (SP1). During setup, you can select either to have DPM Setup install SQL Server 2008 SP1 on the DPM server, or you can specify that DPM use a remote instance of SQL Server.

  • Thank you.  The documentation doesn't explicitly state 2008 Express like it does in earlier versions.  I have tested a 2008 SQL Express backup and was satisfied.  Thank you for the response.
