Protected Mirror without consistency check RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am protecting sharepoint 2010 with dpm 2010. all my sql server databases are mirrored and the dpm agent is installed on both the principal and mirror servers.

My understanding is that if there is a failover in the database and the mirror takes the role of primary. On DPM side we need to do a consistency check.

as part of this check dpm detects that the failover has happened and starts protecting the mirror (correct me if I am wrong here).

is there a special powershell/ui option which specifically detects the database failover without doing a consistency check of the replica?

The reason for asking this question is someone who manages DPM 2007 told me it takes massive amount of time to do consistency check on large replicas.

So much so that it easier for them to rebuild the replica .... than to do consistency check. [now this may not be true for DPM 2010]
