Primary site with secondary site RRS feed

  • The primary site is in Maryland the secondary site is in DC the question I have is can I control both MD & DC through the primary site but also have the ability to deploy software packages to DC from the DC site and MD from the MD site?

  • Well, you don't actually deploy from the secondary site as in configuring the app from there.  You still configure the app from the Primary server.  Secondary Sites don't really have anything to do with deploying software.  You can set both up as DPs and have the clients pull from their respective DPs based on boundaries.  Assign your DC boundaries to a boundary group and then assign that group to that DP.  Create a collection of just your DC clients and then deploy an app to that collection.  They will pull from the DP on the secondary site.

  • Think of secondary sites as extensions or proxies of the primary site. They don't really manage anything but act on behalf of the primary by passing traffic to and from the clients.
