Microsoft Flow (read custom fields via project online and write on return on database pwa) with Project Online REST Api RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want a scenario via microsoft flow that reads
custom fields from project online via microsoft flow to a list (via HTTP Request to SharePoint ia Project Online REST Api).
    following this link/tutorial
Its mandotory that reads the custom fields and return to a list.
That list can be edited and send via microsoft flow to save on project online database.

    • Scenario 1 - Read enterprise custom fiels from MS Flow (http request to sharepoint) to a list.
    • Scenario 2 - Write the information on that list back to databases via MS(http request to sharepoint) to the plan on project online.

It is possible anyone have the same ideia?

  • Hello,

I'm sure this is possible but I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to achieve? How come you are writing custom fields values for projects to an SP list, then the data from that SP list back to the projects?

  • I have the following scenario:

I need to change the Status Date for all my Published Projects. I found out thet Status Date Field is not easily accessible.

As a workaround, I created a Custom Date Project Field so I can use it as a substitute to the Status Date on my formulas.

I need to set up a flow script that writes today's date and time (08/16/2019 18:00) to this Custum Project Field and automatically updates it daily.

This way, my % planned formulas will update daily without the need to open the Project on the Desktop App and change manually the Status date for each project.

I'm talking about changing the date for 300+ projects, that's why I would need the automation to write on a Custom Project Field through Microsoft Flow (and do this in a way that it gets published - similar to when you edit a Project Field on a Project Detail Page and it republishes the Project via PSI Update).

Any insight on how to create a flow that writes to a Project Custom Field?

  • Hello,

I personally wouldn't recommend doing it this way. If you are looking at a calculation that you want to view daily, weekly etc. why not just create a report in Power BI / Excel etc. and have that calculation there using today's date. It's far simpler and doesn't require open, editing and publish each project every day.
