Is there any way to encrypt database traffic in SharePoint 2007? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Our SQL Server 2005 is configured with a valid certificate assigned by a valid CA, and so is our SharePoint 2007 server, but whenever we enable ForceEncryption = yes on the SQL Server side, the SharePoint 2007 server cannot connect to the database.

I'm not sure if part of the problem is the SQL Server's certificate is for the full dns name, i.e. sharepointsql.myoranization.corporateoffice.com, instead of how it is configured throughout SharePoint Central Administration as sharepointsql.

Should we create a self-signed certificate for sharepointsql (no full dns name) and install the certificate in the SharePoint 2007 server as a trusted certificate?

I'm not sure why it's not working using the CA signed certificate.

    Please help!
