Searching for details of updates to windows sharepoint services adn office sharepoint server 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • What specifically is fixed in the october 2011 cumulative update for windows sharepoint server 3.0 and office sharepointer server 2007?

When I read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2596541 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2596540 and follow the pointers to other articles, I just seem to get lists of modules, without the details of what is being fixed.

Also, if my machine is currently running MOSS 2007 SP1, does the october 2011 cumulative update take it to SP3 with hotfixes, or do I first need to install SP3, then the cumulative upgrade?

Finally, there's references at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/office/sharepointserver/ee748587.aspx to Search Server 2008. Is that something extra that is available, or is that something that needs to be upgraded as a part of upgrading SharePoint 2007 from SP1 to SP3?

  • Hi,

You need to install SP3 first, then install the October 2011 cumulative update.

For the last link you provided, I think it's just giving us the information about the latest updates. Like you said, it is something extra that is available. And for the issues that fixed by this CU, you refer to the introduction section in the following article.

    Hope this helps.
