How to scan specific list of computers for security updates with MBSA 2.2 RRS feed

  • I have a list of 120 machines spreaded in network with different IP addresses and need to scan those machines for latest security patches using MBSA 2.2. Is there any Script which will server my need.

    You can accomplish this in many ways.

    From the graphical interface (MBSA.EXE), you can choose the option to 'scan multiple computers' and specify an entire domain or an IP address range that will include all of the machines you wish to scan.

    From the command-line interface (MBSACLI.EXE), you can scan and type mbsacli.exe /? to see all options - and use the /listfile option to reference the specific IP addresses and/or NetBIOS computer names in a text file that you would like to scan.  Be sure to separate each entry (either an IP address or a computer name) on its own line, and MBSACLI will be able to read and scan each in the order specified in the file.
