Hibernate option missing, but hibernate works

Question

I don't get the option hibernate in the shutdown dialog. I enabled it and tied PsShutdown and that worked. But now I wonder: how can I get the option available where is belongs?
Windows 7 SP1 x64 - Intel DP45SG - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 - 4GB RAM
Thanks in advanced

This is by design in Vista/7. By default the hybrid sleep is enabled. You can disable the hybrid sleep to get the hibernation option back:
Disable Hybrid Sleep Mode
Turn Off Hybrid Sleep in Windows 7

Didn't know there was a hybrid sleep feature but by the looks of it, it's not something I'll be using often. I'll check this out when I'm home and keep you posted.
Thanks

Hi,
Regarding your issue, please try following steps:
1. Run "powercfg –hibernate on", restart and check. Any progress?
2. Check if the following Registry key was there.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System\Shutdown\ShowHibernateButton

Sorry for the late answer. This did it for me, the option hibernate is back where it should be.
Thanks!
