"Windows cannot update your Roaming Profile" RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I logoff as Student (the user name for general student use on my classroom computers) I am now getting the above message. It was not there before and I have made several changes to the working environment since that time. Is there a general solution or should I be looking for a local problem? (The user student has maximum restrictions and is locked.)

    Thanks

  • I've resolved this issue by creating a new user with the same configuration. The problem no longer occurs.

  • Hi Jim,

Thanks for sharing your solution! I also found some related KB articles which may be helpful if issue reoccurs.

You cannot load or unload a roaming user profile if it contains EFS files on a Windows XP-based or a Windows Server 2003-based client
