    hello all..

    I recently purchased an Hp notebook running on windows vista home premium edition with 300 GB Hard Disc on C, the rest reserved for D (recovery) total of approx 320 GB.

    I would like to defragment my C drive to get another "working" drive of approx 200 GB. On the drive itself in "computer management" i only get the option of "shrink volume" is that what i use?

     

    Could anyone help me out here please, as yopu will have probabely noticed I ain't much of a computer genius!!! Smile)

    Hi

     

    Defragment has nothing to do with creating another partition, although it never hurts to make sure that the system is not fragmented. Vista performs this function automatically as a scheduled task.

     

    Here is a link on the 'Shrink Volume' component that gives the instructions on how to use it.
