Distribute R Open with Microsoft Office RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • It might be interesting to distribute Microsoft R Open by default with Microsoft Office, by using a GUI based on R Tools for Visual Studio, but only for programming with R. And even include some easy step by step tutorials for using R and ggplot2 (for example), for beginners.

By doing so, Microsoft would be able to assure the prevalence of R (and Microsoft R maintained packages) over other statistical softwares (SPSS, SAS, ...) or other programming languages, such as Python. And even offer a major integration with Excel, making Excel programmable with R by default (Apart from VBA).

    What do you think?

R is a lightweight software so, why not?

It might be interesting to distribute Microsoft R Open by default with Office, with a GUI based on R Tools for Visual Studio, simplified
