POP3/Imap migration RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

i am going to migrate a POP3 server to Exchange online. I have 1.500 mailboxes and i would like to procede by groups of mailboxes. I can set the forward on the POP3 server for the group of mailboxes that i am going to migrate. So i will be in a situation with some mailboxes on the Exchange online and some mailboxes on the POP3 server. Is this a supported scenario ? The online mailboxes will see the GAL ? They are able to send messages to on-premise users ?

  • Yeah, I don't really see any problems with this.  The coexistence between POP3 and Exchange Online isn't too different from the coexistence with Exchange, you just add the forwarder on the mailbox after it has been migrated and users should be able to send mail back and forth between the 2 systems.
