question about Edit permissions

    Question

  • Hello -

We set up a user with EDIT permissions on a list.   The description for the Edit permissions is:

Edit - Can add, edit and delete lists; can view, add, update and delete list items and documents.

However, when the user tries to access the list, she gets the following error:

Sorry, you don't have access to this page.

The user isn't part of any of the groups that has access on the site permissions.   Does she need to be granted READ access on the site in addition to the Edit access on the list?

Answers

  • Yes.  In your case the user has Edit access to the list items, but doesn't have Read access to the page that displays the list items.  Giving the user 'ViewOnly' permission level to the site should be enough.
