Schema update possibly missed? SP2

    Question

  • I am wondering if I messed up our upgrade of Exchange 2010 SP1 to SP2. Were you supposed to do a schema update first before running SP2, or was that only if you didn't have EX2010 already? The reason I am asking is when I run EXBPA it is say the mailbox role is partially configured. Everything seems to be running ok, users can access email. There are a couple of error messages in the Event log like "unable to find any replicas for free/busy folder" and active sync issues. Can I just reinstall SP2 (running the AD schema update first, if necessary?) Any help would be appreciated.

  • HI,

if you run Exchange 2010 SP1 and want to install SP2 the setup process will upgrade the schema by running setup.exe. You don´t need to install the schema first.

  • Hi

I have to say that it is big problem. It is not AD schema problem but update process problem.

Exchange sp2 installation had failed at some point (watermark key, objectversion, and so on).

It is hard for us to check them through forum.

You had better backup and reinstall exchange server.

  • Reinstall?  What about trying to reinstall the service pack first?

  • Hi
       You can try it first.
But according to similar intern case, it doesn't work. So i don't know whether it works for you.

  • I am looking at this...

I am not having all the same problems. But looks promising. Can't try until our next maintenance in a few weeks.
