Gigabyte 7N400-L motherboard, NForce FX5500 Graphics 2046MB memory SB Audigy Soundcard Athlon XP1800+ AOC LM720 Keyboard MS 51677 Mouse-LogitechUSB marble Printer Samsung CLP550 [prints from USB but problems from Print Server]
Device Manager states Other device problems Multimedia Audio Controller -{ no Creative driver available yet,if ever?} Mulimedia Controller -{ as above? } PCI Input Device SM Bus Controller
On XP we have Gigabyte and Nvidea drivers [exe files] which seem to cover the PCI and SM Bus The LAN appears okay
The Graphics is driven by Windows Standard VGA Adapter and resolves reasonably well but max 1280 x 1024 only and appears a bit shakey Hope proper divers will be available?
Love the Screen backgound pics, Do Not Like Start Menu, no matter what cannot get to Classic view, Have a sort of all programs list above the start but want basic Classic View cannot get to Printer setup to enable the print server to accept the printer [as in win98 and XP]
Understand this is RC but with full release very soon, hope all this can be made much better. Will spend more time investigating
However should we worry over the lack of SM Bus controller and PCI Input Device driver ?
It would be up to the hardware manufaturer to release updated drivers for their products, which would either be posed on their website or possibly added to Windows Update if they choose. As for the classic start menu - that is not an option in Windows 7. You can adjust the taskbar to look more like older versions of Windows (right click on the taskbar, choose properties, in the taskbar tab select use small icons, taskbar buttons: never combine.) -Matt
