Unauthenticated users can't join from or dial out to another device RRS feed

  • Question

  • We currently have an issue were one of our users when joining an external Skype meeting get's the following error when they select the call me feature:

Unauthenticated users can't join from or dial out to another device

This only seems to happens when they join an external Skype meeting where the domain is not federated.

Our setup is a hybrid deployment and the user is homed in O365.

  • In order to get this working you must manually allow the federated domain to federate by adding it to the allowed domain list. You must allow it both on-prem and online. Once federation is allowed, you can join the federated users conference call and then select the "call me at" feature which will then make an outbound call using the federated users setup. The federated user must also be enabled for Enterprise Voice or Phone System/PSTN calling for this feature to work.

  • Hi Blue_Craig,

What is your license? If you have E3 license ,you should buy the the Microsoft PSTN Conferencing Add-ons for E3 Subscription and then proceed with the usage of the Call Me at work.

You click the Call me atin the SFB client, which options did you select? If you select the “New Number”,please notice number formats, please check the number formats like the following screenshot.

Please update your SFB client to the latest version

  • We have an E5 trial license enabled. This feature works fine for federated meetings.

There must be a better fix than to have to Federate with the external party or have to use the web app (see Reddit post).

Can we not use the SfB desktop application without having to Federate with external parties?
